Is there anything else you would like to know? Please call or contact us at info@duhovkaskolka.cz.
Yes, it's a normal part of getting to know our preschool. Even later, during the school year, we encourage parents to come in once a school term to observe the children working in the classroom. It is the best way to get to know what we do and how we do it. If you are interested in our preschool after attending an open day, just contact us to arrange a visit. We will be happy to show you around and explain everything to you in person.
We usually accept children from 3 years of age. Upon individual agreement, younger children can be accepted depending on their social maturity, level of independence, and previous experience with nursery school or preschool. We accept children from the age of two years in the toddler class.
Before the start of the school year, we always offer a getting to know you morning that is only for newly enrolled children, so that they can familiarize themselves with the school environment, the classroom, and the teachers. We agree on the next steps with the parents, taking into account the individual needs of the child. As a general rule, the child is in the classroom without their parents, and we gradually lengthen their stay.
The capacity of a preschool class is 25 children and 12 children in the nursery school class. In each class there are always at least 2 teachers, one Czech and one English-speaking.
After agreement with the parents, we offer children the opportunity to sleep on a lounger or just rest on a sleeping mat in another room after lunch. Children who are resting can of course fall asleep 😊. But during this time, we read books to the resting children, share thoughts and stories, or listen to music with them. On the contrary, if a child who usually sleeps does not fall asleep, he or she joins the other children. After resting, the children continue working with Montessori materials. The length of rest is always adjusted to the class rules and the current needs of the children, which gradually change according to age.
We try to spend as much time in the fresh air as possible. We go out in the morning and in the afternoon in all weather conditions. Children have sufficient opportunities to exercise, both through guided activities and through their own games. At the Prague 6 branch, we have a gym in the preschool, which we use regularly.
Our parents are given access to the My Zone application, which serves as a secure communication portal in Duhovka. In My Zone, parents find not only information from the preschool office, but also reports that we send twice a month, as well as photos. Parents then receive an email twice a month on how their children spend their time in Duhovka. My zone is also used for ordering lunches, for club registration, and for making appointments for parent meetings. The individual meetings take place twice a year. We talk to parents about how the child is developing in the personal, social, and academic fields. Parents have the opportunity to schedule a meeting with a teacher or director at any time during the year.
In addition to offers of afternoon clubs, an experienced speech therapist comes to the preschool once a week. Depending on the monthly theme, we organize trips to see animals, exhibitions, theater, or other cultural events. We also invite interesting personalities to the preschool, organize art or creative workshops and events relating to traditions or other important occasions. For parents and the general public, we offer seminars, lectures and workshops on children's upbringing and education.
In July we offer several two week thematic programs, which take the form of camps. We publish dates and the program in the spring.
Lunches are delivered by Bionea and children have a choice of meat and vegetarian menus, which are chosen by the parent. The children in the nursery class have a set menu. During the day, children receive three snacks (depending on the length of the program). We follow a drinking regime (water, unsweetened tea) throughout the day.
